Eating Out
Edinburgh has a host of top class restaurants from the legendary Witchery by the Castle in the historic Royal Mile to Oloroso in the New Town. Oloroso presents its guests with exemplary service and imaginative, contemporary cooking. One of Scotland’s key places to be and be seen. The Witchery has been described by Harpers & Queen as "almost as famous as the castle itself", whilst Sir Cameron Mackintosh described it as the high spot of the Royal Mile. Prestonfield is a favourite with the stars since the MTV Music awards came to Edinburgh described by Condé Nast Traveller as .."so extravagant it's like walking onto the set of some flamboyant costume drama".
At the Museum of Scotland you can mix culture, history and fine food by dining at Edinburghs first and finest rooftop restaurant, the Tower. Here you can dine with some of the best views of the city. The Café Royal oyster bar, just off Princes Street, oozes Victorian elegance and the food is as exquisite as the decoration. During the day there are street cafes and bistros such as the new Valvona and Crolla bistro just off St Andrew's Square in the heart of the city.. This is an offshoot of the Valvona and Crolla delicatessen Scotland's oldest delicatessen and Italian Wine Merchant, one of Europe's original specialist food shops, founded in 1934. You can also eat at the original shop in Leith Walk for lunch or evening dining.
